Back in March, we told you you could pre-order a DVD of the documentary “A Deliberate Life,” from Silo 4, which purported to “explore the stories of five unlikely friends who share the same love of fly fishing and the outdoors and their choice to lead a life according to their passions.” The trailers of the film were gorgeous, but. . .the final version of the film never quite got finished. This, unfortunately, left some folks with a bad taste in their mouths.
Well, the good news is that, according to the Silo 4 blog, the filmmakers are back in the editing room. They don’t yet have a date for when the film will be finished, but to tide us over, they offer this beautiful 18-minute trailer. This version will also be touring with the IF4.
For an interesting behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film, check out Rebecca’s long post at Outdooress.

Thanks for the shout, Phil. We’re excited to be getting back at it – and grateful that folks have stuck by us. Some great new energy involved in the project. I’ll be keeping everyone up-to-date on the Silo4 blog as things progress.
Be well.
Matt
Awesome work guys. Looking forward to the final cut!
In the immortal words of Tom Hanks as Josh Baskin in the movie Big, “I don’t get it”. I found myself dozing off as I was trying to watch this. Maybe it was the soulful music or the slow motion shots of walking through water. These types of films seem to be getting over done and played.
Bring back the Curt Gowdy outdoors life types of films! They were riveting; nothing made me want more for the outdoors than his adventuresome films.
Sorry flim makers, everyone seems to be making the same film these days.
Nice film. But oh to be able to just walk away from a “sufficating job” and follow your passion.
And why not? We all have decisions to make in this life and sacrifices too.
Can anyone provide a list of the songs used in this video? I’m particularly interested to know the name of the song that begins at the 12:38 minute mark.
Thanks in advance
