Fly fishing for panfish is a blast, and for many folks its the closest opportunity to home. Here’s a great video from Mad River Outfitters, in which Brian Flechsig walks you through his whole kit for chasing panfish, from rods and reels to fly lines to fly patterns. If you’re looking to get into the bluegill-pumpkinseed-redear-etc. game, this is a great place to start. Take Brian’s advice and you’ll discover that, pound-for-pound, these great game fish are pretty darned strong and don’t give up easily.
