Video: “The Bank, Episode 9—Caddis Lips in the Wind

Dave and Amelia Jensen, of Jensen Fly Fishing in Alberta, serve up another fantastic episode in their series of instructional videos, “The Bank,” this time focused on an annual May hatch. Here’s Dave’s description:

The Mother’s Day Caddis hatch usually begins a week after Mother’s Day, and Mother’s Day usually is mid month, making this hatch a couple-few weeks early this year. We faced a stiff headwind, but the caddis kept coming! Watch as the nice brown only wants caddis in amongst the parade of olives and march browns – and then keep a keen eye on how it pounds the skittering & twitching caddis. Fly fishers that have poor drag habits do well when trout are doing this!

What this amounts to is a masterclass on how to approach and present flies to a rising trout in windy conditions.
