Video: How to Break Off the Tag End of the Thread

Last week, we launched a new series of videos called “One-Minute Fly-Tying Tips and Techniques.” from Tim Flagler of Tightline Productions. Each video will teach a single tying skill, from the most basic to the advanced. Ultimately, the series will serve as a sort of encyclopedia of tying skills that will be a valuable resource for anyone who sits down at a vise to create a fly.

In second installment, Tim demonstrates a cool and quick way to break off the tag end of your thread after you’ve tied on. To see Tim’s video on the best way to attach the thread to the hook, check out last week’s video. Come back every Tuesday for a new video that will help you improve your skills.

  1. Love the idea of the single-skill videos! (Tell Flagler not to stop the whole-fly videos, though!)

  2. Excellent video my problem is wip finish can not get that right at all either it covers the eye or it unravels
