Video: Eekin’ One Out of the Willows in New Zealand

Written by: Dave Jensen, Jensen Fly Fishing

[Editor’s note: Here’s another great video from Dave and Amelia Jensen, from their recent adventure on the South Island of New Zealand. Warning: some very Canadian language here.]

We knew there had to be a fish about this trough and willow. It came out of the tailout and surprised us by taking the dry fly after feeding on nymphs exclusively. It wasn’t a huge brown, but any time a fish fights you into the willows is always exciting. Note the rod angle while the brown tries to rub me out on the willow: an upside down tip often gets us out of trouble and it saved us here again.
