Video: How to Fish Wet Flies and Nymphs, with Tom Rosenbauer

Here’s a full episode of “The Orvis Guide to Fly Fishing,” in which Tom Rosenbauer covers the basics of using wet flies and nymphs to catch trout. From fly selection to presentation options, Tom details all the essentials you need to get started. When you’re using subsurface flies, you can’t see what’s going on, so you need to work with intuition and a bit of trial-and-error. This episode will help you hone your skills and know which tactics are most likely to work in a given situation. Casting instructor Peter Kutzer steps in for a quick lesson on casting heavy or wind-resistant flies, as well.

  1. Very nice job!! I like the detail. The longer production leaves plenty of room to cover a subject in depth. A great review for someone who has been fly fishing for 15 years. Like to see the live bait and fly side-by-side, helps my fly tying skills a bit too. Thanks Orvis, think you should keep Tom around, his pod cast are very good as well!
