Too often, when a non-sporting magazine does an article about fly fishing, they present it as something it isn’t—extreme or exclusive of something. But the editor’s of Bert, a new Australian digital publication that “is for every man (and woman) who has ever been generally interested in things that are generally interesting,” did something much smarter: they went out and talked to actual fly fishermen. The result is this ruminative and beautiful video about why anyone would do such a thing as to throw fur and feathers at trout. Shot on the Eucumbene River in the Snowy Mountains of Australia, this video offers no hero shots, but plenty to think about.
