Last month, Utah artist Tim Johnson hosted a popular live event on the Orvis Fly Fishing Facebook page in which he taught us how to draw a trout. It was a truly eye-opening lesson that certainly helped me reach new artistic heights. With an artist’s vision, Tim broke the fish down into its individual parts and explained how to get the proportions correct.
Unfortunately, he didn’t have enough time to really walk us through the process of coloring the trout we’d drawn. Instead, we simply watched him race through creating a lovely cutthroat. Many folks were inspired and did their own color versions of the trout, some of which you can see below.

Tim has agreed to hold a second Facebook Live session just on the coloring process, next Wednesday at 7 p.m. Eastern. Given the time constraints, he won’t demonstrate the drawing process, so you should tune in with your trout already drawn in pencil. If you missed the first session, watch the video above and draw along with Tim.
So join us on Wednesday night on the Orvis Fly Fishing Facebook page to get your art on!

This was great session! I watched the first one; however, did not draw at the time.
I went into the session on line and was able to draw a reasonable trout.
Thank you,
Jim
Just an idea, but would you ever consider a trout drawing contest, or a similar artistry contest?
