Video: How to Read Water, from a Master Angler’s Perspective

Craig Fellin established Big Hole Lodge in 1984, and he’s learned a lot about how to catch trout in rivers in the four decades since. This is the first in a seven-video series on successful fly fishing, in which he discusses reading the water. The first step, of course, is observation. Don’t rush into the river and start casting until you’ve spent at least five minutes looking at the surface to see if anything is happening.
