You ever wonder what knot big-tarpon hunters use? Here’s a cool tutorial on how to tie the “Double Figure 8” knot, popularized by legendary Florida guide Steve Huff. I put “Double Figure 8” in quotes because this knot bears no relation to the figure-8 knot used in rock climbing. Instead, the two ends of the jam knot just look like 8s. If you want a super-strong knot that offers a straight pull on the hook, this is a good one.

  1. That looks like a great loop knot for ease of tying. Can you please give some specs on it such as any testing data for breaking test, effective line diameter range, can it be used for lines for trout etc.? Obviously it would be fine for big diameter line for big tarpon!
