Video: Into The Valley Of The Condor for King Salmon

King salmon were introduced in Chile almost a hundred years ago, but it wasn’t until some Japanese entrepreneurs released hundreds of thousands of Chinook salmon smolts from the lower Columbia’s Cowlitz Hatchery in the 1970s and 80s that the species took hold. This gorgeous video from Columbus Leth and Salmon Junkies chronicles a visit to a “secret river valley” in Chilean Patagonia. The narration is a bit purple here, but the visuals are stunning and the fish are remarkable.
