Last week, we caught up with Orvis Senior Product Developer Jim Kershaw to learn all about the new Orvis PRO Approach Wading Shoes. Designed for long hike-ins, wet-wading, and for wearing in boats, these cool shoes were more than two years in the making. Jim walks us through the design-and-development process and then explains the main features of the shoes, which include:
- Seamless mesh upper with PU Cage, which provides optimal drainage, weight, and durability
- Integrated Ariaprene™ sock, which prevents debris from entering the shoe
- Michelin® Outdoors Extreme rubber outsole, which provides best-in-class rubber traction
- Removable 3D molded Ortholite® X25 insole for ultimate support and comfort
- Protected laces, which prevent unnecessary snags and abrasion
- Integrated lace hood, which allows laces to easily tuck away
