Here’s a great video about a young woman’s love of fly fishing and how it helps her connect with her dad. A student at the University of Texas, Meris McHaney, shot this film herself, and it really captures the joys of saltwater fly fishing along the Texas coast. Her excitement about hooking and landing a tarpon on the fly is absolutely contagious. Being both filmmaker and star of a video is a tough job, as her dad points out.
The dad daughter relationship is inspiring. While fly fishing was what brought them together, clearly the video is about the bond between a parent and child and their connection to a beautiful, fragile place.
