Classic Video: My Old Man No. 4—Anchor Point

With Father’s Day fast approaching, Yeti has produced a wonderful series of short films about outdoorsmen and -women to celebrate the holiday. The video above features guide JT Van Zandt, son of the great signer-songwriter Townes Van Zandt. JT, who builds boats, operates JT Van Zandt Fly Fishing, and guides for All Water Guides in Austin, talks about being the son of someone famous for both great art and bad behavior. For JT, fishing was a way out of a life he seemed destined for, and his role as a father now is informed by his own experiences as a child. It’s beautiful, powerful stuff.

  1. Outstanding! Townes apparently made more than great music. JT has his own words of wisdom. “Be a fucking man.”
    Love that. Happy Father’s Day.
