One of the first things that a fly fisher learns is that matching the hatch is important. But how, exactly, do you do that–especially when there are no insects on the water’s surface? Here’s a two-part video lesson that demonstrates four methods for sampling the water, which will show you what’s available to trout right now and what food items are generally available. After you’ve determined the most likely bug, the video offers a simple and effective way to choose a fly that will accurately imitate the insects in your sample.

Very good tutorial! Keep them coming!!
Where can one get one of those seines for a net?
If Orvis doesn’t sell one Feather Craft does. I love mine.
I buy paint strainers at hardware stores, you can get a couple of em for just a few bucks and work very well!
Hi,
To start out, I’d recommend paint straining bags from Amazon, Walmart, etc. They fit on right over your net. Work great and they’re super cheap.
Best, V
Loved it well done

I use polymer window screen material stapled between two dowels. Rolled up and stuffed into my vest.
