Here’s another great set of videos from the Orvis Fly Fishing Learning Center, Twhich explains the best ways to present flies to stillwater trout. Presentation requirements for lakes differ from those of rivers or streams. First of all, the fish moves, and the water doesn’t. Stillwater trout are almost constantly cruising. Your rod tip must be low to ensure a straight line connection between you and your fly, so you don’t miss takes. The success in your presentation typically does not rest in the fly you choose, but the depth you present it at, and the manner in which you move or retrieve your fly through the water.

Thanks for the tips. Especially that of the hang at the end of the retrieve! Landed me 10 trout in the range of 18 to 22″ on my Orvis Spring Creek #5 9′ with a little white zonker
