Video Pro Tips: River Safety is SERIOUS Business

Ben Sittig, a.k.a. Huge Fly Fisherman, is known for his snarky, funny takes on the sport, but if there’s one thing that he doesn’t treat as a joke, it’s safety on the water. He often has his wife, his kids, and his mom in his own boat, and he realizes that his main job isn’t to serve as cruise director or fishing guide; it’s making sure all of them get to go home at the end of the day. Two recent deaths on his local river have led him to make this very serious video, in which he runs down some very important fundamentals of river safety. As he says, “No fourteen-inch trout is worth your life.” Whether you’re a boater or a bankie, you’ll want to watch this and take Ben’s advice to heart.

Rule #1: Know your limits.

  1. Excellent, excellent information, Ben. But I have to say I don’t remember seeing you or your fishing companions wearing PFDs in your videos. ???
