One of the most common question that fly-fishing guides get is, “What do you do when you’re not guiding?” For most of the pros I know, the answer is the same: “I go fishing.” Here’s a great video from a series called “Unguided,” about those trips that guides take on their own. Michael Mathews, LeAndra Guericke, and Blake Wilson head into the High Uintas of eastern Utah, to a glorious rock formation called Red Castle, which is surrounded by several small lakes full of trout. The fishing isn’t easy–even for these seasoned anglers–but they find some sweet tiger trout, stunning scenery, and a majestic denizen of the forest.

What kind of trout is that?
Tiger trout.
I wanna go!!!
classic trout guide. Great at telling people how to cast but horrible at casting themselves.
