Ireland has always been a pike-fishing destination for European hardware anglers, but it’s only in the last decade that warmwater fly fishing has taken off in the Emerald Isle. In 2004, an Irish guide told me he wasn’t sure that a pike would eat a fly. By the end of the day, he was giggling maniacally every time a fish smashed my topwater frog. As this video demonstrates, the snot rockets grow plenty big and love a flashy streamer.
