Videos: Fly-Fishing the Total Solar Eclipse

It seems that Tom and I weren’t the only ones fishing beneath the eclipse. Meng Syn is a dentist from San Jose who is an avid angler/photographer/videographer. He spends most of his time chasing striped bass in the large reservoirs near his home, but earlier this month he traveled to South Carolina to fish during the total solar eclipse. Sight-fishing for redfish in the grassy Lowcountry flats with Capt. Jeremy Mehlhaff, Meng was ready with both camera and fly rod beneath the Path of Totality. As these two videos show, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Fittingly, he was using a rod named for the sun god: Helios 2.
