Fellow Picabo Angler guide Nick Anderson and I have been doing some serious field testing with the new Superfine Glass rods. Nick picked up the 7’6″ 4-weight, and we’ve had it out on some of our local waters in the Wood River Valley. We first cast the rod around the beginning of the new year when rep Doug Best brought a few to the fly fishing expo in Boise. Nick and I were able to sneak away from our booth long enough to cast the entire Superfine Glass lineup, and we were instantly smitten! Nick pulled the trigger first on the 4-weight, and I’m going with the 5.
These rods are fantastic and will do anything we ask on our local waters – the Big Wood, Big Lost, and Silver Creek. So far, the 4-weight has handled typical nymph rigs and early-season dry fly fishing with ease; not to mention that the rods are just plain fun to fish. The Superfine Glass has prompted Nick and me to declare 2014 as the Summer of Glass!
