Win a New Helios 3 in Our Eclipse Day Giveaway!

As you probably know, Helios was the personification of the sun in Greek mythology. So it seems appropriate that, on a day when so many people are focused on the sun, that we should celebrate with a giveaway of a new 9-foot 5-weight Helios 3 fly rod. It’s tough to eclipse that deal, huh? One of the beauties of the Helios 3 is that you can, in fact, stare right at it without damaging your eyes, so feel free to give it a once- or twice-over.

Here’s how the contest works: All you have to do is click the “Answer a Question” bar in the widget below to tell us where you’d like to use your new fly rod (were you to win, of course), and you’ll be entered in the random drawing.

One lucky winner will receive the most versatile Helios 3 for freshwater anglers, the 9-foot 5-weight, and can choose between the Helios 3D or Helios 3F versions. (The “D” is for Distance, and the “F” is for Feel.)

If you’d like to double your chances of winning, subscribe to the Orvis Mailing list, too, using the same widget.

The contest runs through Thursday, August 31, and one winner will be chosen at random to receive a 9-foot, 5-weight Helios 3.

The sweepstakes is open only to legal residents of the USA who are 18 or older. (We apologize to our readers in Canada and overseas; Click here for an explanation of why we have to do this..)

    1. Caught my first Trout on a fly rod in Eleven Mile canyon, been hooked ever since. That place will always be special to me.

  1. I demoed an H3 a couple of weeks ago at the Orvis hosted trip to the West Branch of the Delaware River at the West Branch Anglers Resort in Hancock, NY. I was very impressed with the accuracy of this new technology. Would love to hook up a big brown or rainbow from the Delaware River System.

  2. I would use this on the home waters of the Maumee River, to Lake Erie, and Manistee River! I could never afford such a fine work of art for my collection and would be honored to own such a piece of craftsmanship.

  3. Wait a minute..I can’t look at that eclipse without my OH-fishul eclipse glasses…
Now my eyes will be even worse than before!!
By the way, I’d love to get back up to the Catskills and fish!

  4. I would use it to fish the streams and lakes in the Sawtooth Mountain range of Idaho with my four year old.

  5. Having tight lines with this rod on the crystal rivers of Salza Austria.

Thank you for the chance to enter the competition,

    Maximilian Colloredo-Mansfeld

  6. I caught my first fish at age 5 or 6 and I love fishing. I have never fly fished before but am so intrigued with it. I have a friend who will teach me if I get all geared up. Would love the chance to try it. I guess it’s on my bucket list.

  7. I would love to replace my Rocky Mountain series rod with the new Helios. The Rapid River, Maine and Helios 3F would make a great match.

  8. where ever and when ever I flyfish..Plus Eclispe 2017 was my 49th birthday ( would be a great birthday present)…thanks for chance at winning

  9. In sweden there is a place called “övre Vindelälven”, thats were i would like to fish the helios 3!

  10. Green River, Utah!
Already know how well my H2 produces on the Green. Interested to see how the H3 works out 🙂

  11. The River Tweed in Scotland or River Test in Hampshire, England depending on when the beautiful Helios 3 arrives.

  12. Any and every body of water I can get close to. Orvis makes a damn nice pole and I’d love to call one mine!

  13. I am going to use this rod in Puget Sound to pull out a crap ton of the 300K farmed Atlantic salmon that were released due to high tides. Seriously.

  14. I would use it on the Kennebec River around Madison, ME. Then up to Iron Pond for land locked brook trout. Fun times.

  15. I sure would like to add an Orvis Rod to my collection. I fish from Texas to Montana and love to chase Cutthroats with dryflys.

  16. I would use my Orvis Helios 3 in Wisconsin’s Driftless Area. As summer progresses, the vegetation closes around the spring creeks there, and an accurate cast is required if you want your fly to land in the water instead of the bushes. Everything I’ve read praises the Helios 3 as being the most accurate fly rod ever, so it fits my needs perfectly.

  17. I would use the new Helios all over the Blue Ridge Mts. In North Georgia. I have a clear water series that has served me well. It would be great to keep up with the Joneses by winning this fly rod. Thank you for this opportunity.

  18. Where will I use it?: the MO, the Beaverhead, the Madison, the Yellowstone, and the Blackfoot. That’s why I moved back to MT.

  19. I have the Helios I and love it, can’t imagine how it could get much better. Would love to use it at Spring Valley Anglers in Arkansas.
