Wingshooting at Deer Creek Lodge

Deer Creek Lodge

If ever there was time to get your money’s worth in wingshooting, it’s now at Deer Creek Lodge in Sebree, Kentucky. In talking with Sales Manager David Krawczynski, he informed me the Orvis-Endorsed Wingshooting Lodge of the Year for 2006-2007 is offering a three-for-the-price-of-two promotion until the end of the season in March. Bring three hunters and pay for two. This is all-inclusive except for gratuities and license.

Add to this their one fee, no-limit upland hunting for pheasant, quail, chukar and Hungarian partridge and you have quite a value.

“We don’t have a lot of weekends left, but during the week in January through March we do have space available.” With the ability to substitute any half-day upland hunt with a morning duck hunt and you have the ingredients for a wonderfully sore shoulder.

I called one of their customers, Marvin Shotts of Nashville, Tennessee. Turns out we have some things in common and he had nothing but praise for Deer Creek.

“I’ve been taking clients, customers, and friends to Deer Creek for years and I’ve never taken anyone that just didn’t love it. The quality of the hunting and in particular the level of service is unmatched. David and Willie are incredibly flexible and accommodating and no matter what we throw at them in terms of scheduling, getting people there, types of hunting we want to do, they make it happen, short notice and all. I have no idea how many times I’ve been there over the years, but I can tell you every trip has been great.”

The lodge at Deer Creek is a new 10,000 square foot, state-of-the-art hunting lodge with eight bedrooms, each with two queen beds and private bath. It’s situated on a hill overlooking their bass pond and offers one of the most stunningly beautiful lodge experiences in the country. There is also the Auxiliary Lodge, a renovated late 1800s farmhouse that offers four bedrooms and a private dining room that is perfect for a small corporate group, a family or a group of friends who want a more private experience. Weather in Kentucky during this time of year is generally perfect for hunting, even during the winter months.

While we are mainly interested in wingshooting, Deer Creek is one of the most diverse sporting lodges in the country. Not only do they offer great wingshooting, but they offer turkey and deer hunting, some pretty phenomenal bass fishing (go to their website and read how they built their bass pond and some of their catch rates), horseback riding, and professional gun dog training. To book a hunt, call 270-835-2424 and be prepared to do a lot of shooting.
