Back in November we announced our #OrvisHunting Instagram Contest looking for images that captured the upland hunting experience, and we’ve been delighted with the results!
Congratulations to our grand prize winner, Joel Wilson of Arroyo Grande, CA! Joel will take home an Orvis Wet-Weather Upland Shell for his image below taken during dove season.
When asked for a little background on the shot, Joel wrote, “This is my fiance Kaitlynd and my German Shorthaired, Maggie. We had just stopped for a minute to listen for the birds and also to enjoy the last minutes of light before the sun went over the ridge.”

Images were judged by an elite team here at HQ and Joel’s was a universal favorite across the group. As one judge put it, “It is a glimpse into a special moment in the field with our most steadfast companion. There are countless moments like these that happen every day, yet few are caught by the camera.”
We had phenomenal runner up winners who will each receive a Mesh Gamebird Blaze Hat for their great entries as well.
