Brett Ference—the man behind Orvis’s new hunting products every year and co-host of the Wingshot blog last week, answering questions about his history as a bird hunter and angler, his path to working for Orvis, and how he determines which products get included in the Orvis Hunting catalogs. It’s interesting stuff.
My husband, an avid upland bird hunter, has the hunting blues again because Orvis STILL (2015 right around the corner) does not carry hunting gear (shooting shirts, jackets, vests, etc.) in tall sizes. What is the reason for not expanding your wonderful hunting clothes to include men who are taller than 5’11”?
We have bought every tall shirt available, but the same patterns are carried forward year-after year? We would like to see some variety, and at least some of the most necessary hunting items available for tall men.
Thank you for your response.
Hi Susan,
Thanks for your comment. We value your feedback and you should know I’ve passed your thoughts along to our men’s department and hunting department for their consideration. In the past we’ve introduced variations in men’s sizes, both tall and small, that were met with moderate success. At this time we are looking into expanding our tall offering in some of our men’s merchandise in the fall of 2015. Though it is too early to promise anything, it is a goal of ours to investigate the viability of offering a tall option in one of our top hunting shirts. Thanks again and I hope you have a happy New Year.
