Part 1 starts off in the Northeast and Great Lakes region, as Orvis’s Brett Ference’s interviews author and award-winning freelance writer Tom Keer. They discuss NE hunting, game-bird habitat and feeding, shotguns and shells, shooting techniques, and tips for a successful hunt.

Tom Keer is an award-winning writer, columnist and blogger who lives on Cape Cod, Massachusetts.  He writes regularly for over a dozen outdoor magazine, including Covey Rise, the Upland Almanac, Sporting Classics, Gray’s Sporting Journal, and the Bird Hunting Report. Keer and his family hunt upland birds over their three English setters. His first book, a Fly Fishers Guide to the New England Coast was released in January 2011.
