Podcast: Getting to Know Your Host, with Reid Bryant

In response to a few emails, Reid takes the opportunity to share his personal story, illuminating his life and career in hunting, writing, dogs, and guns. More than simply a bio, this podcast also explores some of the very real and universal challenges of learning to become an upland hunter and dog owner, while also celebrating the triumphs. A good opportunity to learn more about the host of the Orvis Hunting and Shooting Podcast.

  1. Hey Reid,I hope you’re the right one to contact. If you’re the one that is doing the podcasts I just think it would be good to clarify when you are talking about the shotgun loads that it isn’t the powder charge when you say 7/8 ounce or 1 ounce loads. That is the amount of shot in the shell. There isn’t necessarily anymore powder in different load sizes. You’ve mentioned this now several times in podcasts and if people are wanted to learn about the shooting world then I think they need to hear it correctly. Thanks.

  2. Reid – let me first say that I very much enjoy your podcast. Your interview with Tom McGuane was awesome and what a privilege that must have been! I just recently uncovered it but have been “binge listening” full time lately. As a result you peaked my interest in the new Orvis Classics by Chapuis. Having something like and obsession with double shotguns, I have been aware of Chapuis for years. I learned from a recent podcast that Orvis was now partnering and I was hooked. I was able to find a pre-owned (2017 gun) 20 with 30 inch barrels – exactly what I would have wanted to order new. It will still be a few weeks until it comes home with me as I wanted to pick it up in person and its a few hours away.

Love to buy you a beer the next time your travels bring you through Indiana.
