Phil Monahan

Phil Monahan is Managing Editor for Digital Content at The Orvis Company in Sunderland, Vermont. For the past ten years, he has written and edited the Orvis Fly Fishing blog, including the “Wednesday Wake-Up Call,” a weekly round-up of important conservation news. Orvis commits 5% of its pre-tax profits to conservation efforts, and current matching-grant programs are focused on Everglades restoration and stopping the proposed Pebble Mine in Alaska.

From 1998 to 2008, Phil edited American Angler, one of the “Big Three” fly-fishing magazines in the U.S., and before that, he worked for Outdoor Life. He continues to write for magazines, such as Gray’s Sporting Journal, American Angler, and Sporting Classics.

  1. Why not post appropriate articles that appear in the catalogs?

    I can’t read the Phil Monahan article on the Everglades, from the latest women’s catalog. Most of it is printed in black over a dark blue sky. And in a sans serif font, to make it even harder to make out. So I thought I might find it here but no luck.
