On the line was a reporter for the Washington Post, who wanted to discuss a press release he&#x2019;d received from Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks; it seemed that something called &#x201C;whirling disease&#x201D; had been discovered in the Madison River, causing a 90 percent decline in the rainbow trout population.
